Biography

Trio Verus is a Boston-based piano trio formed in 2024 through the Chamber Music Intensive Performance Seminar (CHIPS) at the New England Conservatory Preparatory School. The ensemble brings together violinist Daphne Lee, cellist Hayden Ren, and pianist Eunha Basu, three young musicians whose distinct artistic voices combine to create a vibrant and expressive approach to chamber music. Their name, Verus, comes from the Latin word for “genuine,” reflecting the trio’s sincere and heartfelt style of music-making.

Now an NEC Prep Chamber Music ensemble coached by Lynn Chang and Allison Eldredge, Trio Verus has advanced for the second time to the quarterfinal round of the 2026 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. Trio Verus has also been featured in Benjamin Zander’s renowned Interpretation Masterclass series on YouTube, performing piano trios by Haydn and Shostakovich. Above all, the trio finds joy in sharing their music with the local community.
